Looking for fun, free ways to keep the kids engaged this spring break? We’ve got you covered! From our popular Pokémon Scavenger Hunt to Makerspace for Kids, hands-on crafts like sticker-making, suncatchers, and kaleidoscopes, plus themed parties throughout the break, there’s something for everyone!

Spring Break Book Bags (Grades 3 to 6)
Get lost in a story over Spring Break with a personalized book bag!Your librarians are excited to share the hidden treasures of our chapter book and novel collections with kid readers in grades 3-6. Each bag will contain: 3 personally chosen books, 1 snack, and 1 simple activity. Registration required.

The great Pokemon Scavenger Hunt is back for another year! Stop by all NVDPL branches Monday March 23 – Sunday March 29 to enjoy a self-guided scavenger hunt.
Grab a scavenger hunt sheet inside the library to start your adventure. Then, explore the children’s section to find hidden creatures, decode a secret message, and earn your trainer badge. Each branch has a different set of Pokémon and a unique badge to collect.
Saturday, March 14 at 6:00pm | Parkgate Library
Spend Saturday evening at the library after hours with a program created for parents and their kids. Parents will participate in a workshop on self-compassion and gratitude led by a Registered Clinical Counsellor from Family Services of the North Shore, then enjoy time to connect over refreshments. Meanwhile, children will take part in fun, supervised activities in the children’s area. Registration required.
Cocoa's Birthday Party - Storytime & Activities

Come celebrate Lynn Valley Library's favourite bear! Join us for a short storytime followed by several bear-related activities! No registration required.

Tween Painted Book Edges (Grades 5-7)

This spring break, you can give your book a new look at Capilano Library. Using simple techniques and materials, we will create beautifully painted editions of our favourite books. Don't forget - dress for mess! Registration required.
Wednesday, March 18 at 11:30am | Lions Gate Express Library
Join us in the River Room at Lions Gate Express Library for a storytime led by library staff during the Capilano Community Services Family Drop-in! The Family Drop-in runs from 10:30am-12:00pm and the storytime is from 11:30am-12:00pm. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration required.

Pyramid Launchers & Hand Cannons! | Tuesday, March 17 at 3:00pm
Get hands-on with engineering this Spring Break by building and designing a pyramid launcher and hand cannon from recycled materials! Registration required.

Celebrate all things DRAGONS at Parkgate Library this Spring Break! Join us for an evening of activities, games, crafts, and snacks based on some of our favourite dragon book characters and lore. Registration required.

Join us for a fun afternoon of puzzles and games. Children are welcome to come on their own, bring a friend, or bring the whole family! We'll provide the puzzles and games to choose from. No registration required.
Karaoke Party | Thursday, March 26 at 6:00pm
Sing your heart out at the library! This Spring Break, we're hosting a special karaoke night for tweens at Parkgate. Sing your favourite tune, bring a friend to sing a duet, and meet other singing enthusiasts! We'll have some activities on the side to enjoy while you're vibing to the music. Registration required.
