Events and Activities

Bring your friends or make new ones at one of NVDPL's teen programs! In addition to a variety of one-time events, there are programs that run throughout the school year for grades 7-12.

Join the Read and Review Teen Book Club to be the first to read not-yet-published books and share your review.
The Queerly Quilled Activity Club is the library’s first teen-led club, and it's a great place to enjoy books by 2SLGBTQIA+ authors, crafts, games and more.

Summer Reading Challenge: Into the Woods

June 8 – September 4

It’s finally summer! Time to get outside, explore new things, and connect with friends, nature, and community. Discover new adventures in reading with our reading challenges. Get creative with our non-reading challenges. Take advantage of the nature of the North Shore, or wherever your travels take you! Complete as many challenges as you can and win prizes as you go.

Teen Writing Contest: Metamorphosis

Submission deadline: September 7

Calling all young authors! We’re looking for teen writers going into grades 7 to 12 to create original short stories on the theme metamorphosis! Finalists will receive a gift card and have their submissions added to the library’s permanent collection!

Teen Volunteering

Teen Advisory Group

Join the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) and earn one volunteer hour each meeting!

TAG tackles everything from décor and displays to offering insight on teen collections and library policies.
Monthly meetings at the Lynn Valley, Capilano, and Parkgate branches. Regular attendance is encouraged.
For grades 8-12.

Other Teen Volunteer Opportunities

While we don’t have regular ongoing volunteer opportunities, we invite teens in grades 8-12 to email us at TAG@nvdpl.ca to request to join our volunteer call-out list.

When we do have opportunities, we will reach out to teens on our list with details of what we’re looking for! Some examples of possible volunteer opportunities include Book Buddies, Tech Tutors, and helping out with library events.
