Parents & Educators

Supporting parents and educators to foster a love of learning!

The library supports parents, teachers, preschool and daycare leaders and care-givers with adult books which relate primarily to children's collections and services. The Parent-Teacher Collection includes resources on storytime and ECE curriculum, using literature in the classroom, and books which relate child development to literacy. This supplements the large parenting and education sections in adult non-fiction.

If your class is working on a special theme or topic, librarians will gather a selection of fiction and non-fiction titles. Please contact your local branch a day or two before you’d like to pick up your batch of books.

Storytimes & Early Literacy

Storytimes support and develop early literacy through singing, talking, reading, and playing.

Group Visits

We love having groups come in to the library! Please contact your local branch to talk to the Children’s Librarian about arranging a visit. Preschools, elementary and high schools classes as well as organizations like Sparks and Boy Scouts are welcome.

We do storytimes for younger children and library tours, booktalks and research training for older children. These visits typically last 30-60 minutes and can be tailored to your needs. A few weeks advance notice is appreciated so we can plan for a successful and fun visit.

We also love coming to see you! Contact your branch to arrange to have a librarian visit your classroom, PAC or parent education evening.
