Betty Forbes was appointed to the Library Board as the Council Representative in 2026.

First elected to North Vancouver District Council in 2018, Councillor Forbes was previously involved with many council and community committees, including serving as a board member of Lynn Valley Community Association and North Vancouver Community Associations Network, where Betty advocated for citizens and neighbourhoods.  

As a fourth generation North Vancouverite who is proud of her heritage, Betty has deep roots and a passionate understanding of all that the community has to offer. She raised her two sons in Lynn Valley and served on their school PAC’s and school board committees. She is afraid that she will be the last generation of her family that can afford to live here and defines “affordable housing” as "attainable housing tied to income". 

As an accountant, Betty applies her years of experience judiciously in analyzing financial information, applying decision criteria, while actively listening and taking a collaborative approach to deliver effective solutions.
