Friends of the Library

The Friends of the North Vancouver District Public Library is a non-profit, volunteer society dedicated to the support and enhancement of our public library services and programmes within the community.

If you would like to join, or simply learn more about the Friends of NVDPL, please email NVDPL Friends (friendsnvdpl@gmail.com). Membership application forms are available in your local library or you can download the Friends' brochure and membership form.

Membership in the Friends is $5 per calendar year.

Funds are raised by book sales, casino applications, grants from other agencies, other initiatives and donations. Money raised has been used to benefit many library services: from enhanced collections to the Read to Me programme; from large print monitors to author visits. Friends of the Library regularly support the summer reading club by providing funds to purchase the books children receive as incentives for reading throughout the whole summer.

Fundraising aside, the presence of the Friends group at community events helps to promote the District's libraries and, increasingly, the Friends are able to act as an additional voice in support of the District Library service.

Membership dues support the running of the group and demonstrate support for North Vancouver District Public Library. There are also many opportunities to volunteer with jobs both large and small. But, volunteering is not a requirement!
