More Canadians Than Ever are Surfing the Net

Canadian Internet Use Survey

The 2009 Canadian Internet Use Survey, was conducted in November.  More than 23,000 Canadians aged 16 years and over were asked about their Internet use, including shopping, for the previous 12 months. According to Statistics Canada, in 2009, 80% of Canadians aged 16 and older, or 21.7 million people, used the Internet for personal reasons, up from 73% in 2007 when the survey was last conducted.  BC had one of the highest rates of Internet use, at 85% of the population.
