This month a new cultural initiative is beginning at North Vancouver District Library. In partnership with the North Vancouver Community Arts Council, the library will be hosting exhibitions curated from the Art in the Community Program. The gallery space is located in the corridor on the second floor as well as in the main floor fireplace area at the Lynn Valley Library.

Sandrine Pelissier, a North Shore artist who has won numerous awards (one of her works is pictured above) will be showcased in the first exhibition, running June 2 - July 28th.

It's Literary Award Season in Canada!

It's Autumn in Canada, and that can only mean that the leaves are turning brilliant hues of yellow and red, there's frost on the windshields, and devoted readers find out who will win two of Canada's most prestigious literary awards.

First up is the Giller, founded by Jack Rabinovitch in 1994 in order of his late wife the literary journalist Doris Giller. One of these shortlisted authors will take home $50,000 on November 10th:

Considered by some to be the most important literary award in the English speaking world, the Man Booker Prize for fiction, first awarded in 1969, promotes the finest in fiction by rewarding the very best book of the year. All of the nominated titles are in our catalogue and available for you to put on hold.
