2012 Summer Reading Club

Everyone from toddlers to teenagers is invited to sign up for the 2012 Summer Reading Club, a program that adds a little extra fun to summer reading.

The theme for the 2012 club is “Strange... But True?” Sign up starts Monday, June 18 and continues through mid-July.

How does the Summer Reading Club work? As a participant, your first step is to register for the program and receive a reading record (it looks like a comic book!) to keep track of your reading over the 50 days of summer.

Throughout the summer, you can receive stickers and fun little prizes for your efforts. When you complete the full 50 days of reading, you can receive either a brand-new paperback book (donated by the Friends of the Library) or a reading achievement medal (donated by RBC).

What counts on the reading record? You can read whatever you like: books, graphic novels or magazines. As long as you read or listen for at least 15 minutes a day, it counts on your reading record. Whatever you read (or have read to you), it takes 50 days to complete “Strange… But True?” This means you’ll finish sometime in August or early September.

For more information, please call or visit the Children's department at your local NVDPL branch.
