Cultural Olympiad 2010

From January 22 to March 21, the best artists in Canada and around the world will play in our own backyard. Genre-bending theatre; stunning virtuoso dance; fierce, fresh music; breathtaking visual and digital art extravaganzas — Cultural Olympiad 2010, presented by Bell, will bring it all to Metro Vancouver and the Sea to Sky corridor.

Arthritis Chronic Pain Management

Based on the Arthritis Self-Management Program this two hour forum introduces participants to self-management skills and the principles of pain management:

- Learn about the physical causes of pain in arthritis
- Learn how to better manage stress and fatigue
- Learn about the benefits of exercise and how to use medications wisely

Mary Wilson is our presenter and one of our long-time volunteer leaders for The Arthritis Society. She leads the Arthritis Self-Management Program on the North Shore and is a patient partner with the UBC Rheumatology program teaching new doctors how to work with patients. Mary is a personal trainer and conducts Arthritis Joint Works exercise programs on the North Shore.

Richard Walton is in his second term as Mayor of North Vancouver District (2005 to present) after serving three years as Councilor (2003 - 2005) and seven years as a North Vancouver School Trustee (1986 - 1993). During his term as Mayor, Richard Walton serves on numerous boards including the Municipal Finance Authority of BC and the Fraser Basin Council. He is also Vice Chair of the Board of Metro Vancouver, and sits on the Environment and Energy, Port Cities, Intergovernmental and Parks Committees.
